New independent music shop to open in Dunfermline City

The Music Box, opening at 37 Queen Anne Street, is the passion project of a local enthusiast who has turned his long-standing hobby into a full-time business. Speaking on the record, Gary Gibson, 57, said: "I've always been into music. "For years, I was buying and selling CDs and vinyl at car boot sales. After being made redundant two years ago, I was jumping from job to job and finally decided it was time to do something I've wanted to do for a long time." Owners 'excited' to bring their new restaurant to Dunfermline

And they're hoping that re-opening the iconic building on Carnegie Drive will also help breathe new life into the city centre economy. Dunfermline DIY store set to close down

Closing down sale banners recently'appeared on the building in the city's Halbeath Retail Park. The Press understands that the store will close sometime in January/February. It was previously put on the market along with 73 other leasehold Homebase stores. No news of investors stepping in to save the store was reported following the deadline of November 29 to secure more funds for creditors. The company suffered a loss of "84.2 million last year, and on November 13 staff at the company Teneo Financial Advisory Limited were appointed as administrators. 130 stores were put at risk of closure, however the brand was immediately sold, along with up to 70 stores, to the owner of the Range homeware outlets Chris Dawson.
